Bacastat is used for the suppression of Bacterial leaf scorch. It is a 100% water-soluble formulation of oxytetracycline that is applied to trees using the M3 Infuser (micro-injection).

It is superior to the prepacked formulations that contain petroleum distillates. Its potency is 100% since it is mixed with water right before injection. Bacastat is taken up very quickly by the tree. Bacastat directly suppresses the pathogen that causes bacterial leaf scorch during the season of the application. Each canister treats 100 Diameter inches.

• Bacastat is 100% water soluble, whereas older forms of oxytetracycline are not.

• Bacastat comes in water soluble packets that allow you to mix the product as needed prior to treatment. This minimizes the chance for product degradation that can arise with pre-mixed formulations.

• Application is by micro-injection into the root flares with the refillable M3 Infuser. Unlike other micro-injectors, the M3 is very versatile; you can add pressure to the M3 if uptake is slow or stop the application and move the Infuser to a new hole without losing active ingredient.

• Bacastat delays symptom development by up to 4 weeks and reduces the amount of overall scorch present in the canopy.

To this day, many aspects of bacterial leaf scorch in trees are only loosely understood, and management practices are aimed at extending longevity rather than providing a cure. Application of Bacastat results in both symptom suppression and a delay in the onset of symptoms.
