A Unique Beginnings

Rainbow Tree Company (RTC) began in 1976 in response to the epidemic of Dutch elm disease in Minneapolis. While local cities were removing elms by the Thousands, RTC devoted its resources to the preservation of this resource.

Predictable Results

It takes a combination of product performance and accurate client expectations to build successful business programs. RTC was able to achieve less than a 1% loss rate compared to losses as high as 17% for untreated trees in surrounding areas. With a performance guarantee and proper client education, RTC's elm program became one of the largest and most successful in the country. A full service tree company was eventually built around this service.

Advancing the Industry of Arboriculture

In 1997 RTC created a sister company called Rainbow Tree care Scientific Advancements (RTSA) to respond to the needs of arborists nationwide. RTSA engages in research and product development to deliver products that solve the problems arborists face on a daily basis. RTSA provides ongoing product development, product education, and application training programs focused on managing expectations and delivering predictable results.

Utility Vegetation Management

RTSA has revitalized tree growth regulation in the electric utility industry. It has taken a multi-faceted approach to accomplish this and make high performance tree growth regulation a reality. Since the year 2000 RTSA has:

• Added over 55 species to the Cambistat rate card
• Invented highly accurate application equipment
• Refined the protocol for application timing to achieve optimal performance
• Developed an economic model to calculate ROI
• Engaged university and collaborative research partners in over 90 Cambistat studies throughout the U.S.
• Identified a method to determine optimal ROI based on any climate, soil, species, and clearance combinations
• Identified formulation characteristics that improve operational performance
• Introduced a retreatment protocol
