Safety and Reliability
After safety, delivering reliable power is the most important responsibility for utility vegetation managers. Trees are a leading cause of unplanned outages, which reduces reliability across the country. Trees growing near conductors are also a large safety concern for line workers and contractors. Studies have shown that nearly 25% of trees pruned along utility lines are in contact with the conductors at the time of pruning. This greatly increases safety risks and pruning costs.
ABOUT INTEGRATED VEGETATION MANAGEMENT
The vast majority of Americans live in urban areas; most likely you and your family live, work, and relax in an urban forest environment. Trees and utility servicing lines are critical components in every community – urban and rural. It is crucial that our lives and utility lines / towers co-exist in close proximity, and allowing both to do so is vital to the quality of our daily lives. An integrated vegetation management approach is fundamental for progressive professional utilities looking to provide safe, reliable power while creating, promoting, and maintaining our environment.
